You will fall in love with the Upper Zemplín from the height.The unspoiled nature and many picturesque towns -all this is an integral part of this wonderful place. You can watch this area from several sightseeing towers.

Národný park Poloniny national park attracts its visitors especially with its beautiful nature and the peace that flows from it. These kind-hearted people are known for their immediacy and hospitality.

An amazing experience is the view of the extinct volcano Vihorlat, the Ukrainian Poloniny, the highest parts of the Bukovské vrchy mountains, or the Polish Bieščady. You can experience all this view from the Holica lookout tower, which is part of the Miroslav Poličšuk Nature Trail. Its beginning is in the center of the village of Ulič.

You can enjoy the view of almost the entire Starina water reservoir from the lookout tower, which is located near the main road leading from the village of Stakčín to the Nová Sedlica village on the right side. You have the largest source of drinking water in Central Europe so-called "in the palm of your hand". There is also a small car park near the wooden lookout tower.

The Polish-Slovak border around the town of Medzilaborce is known mainly for the fact that heavy fighting took place here during both world wars. The sins of the past are slowly but surely being healed by the force of nature, which has huge healing effects in this north-eastern part of Slovakia. You can look at the surrounding countryside from two lookout towers.

The first of them is located near the village of Kalinov. This village was the first village on the territory of former Czechoslovakia, liberated by the Red Army on 21 September 1944. You can get to the lookout tower from the village following the blue tourist sign, which will take you to the border with Poland, where it connects to the red sign at the signpost.

Another newly built building, from which you can observe the wide surroundings of the town of Medzilaborce, is the Kyčera lookout tower. It stands on a hill (528 m above sea level), after which it is named. It is almost 10 meters high, has three floors, and is made of wood.

You can also get to know the town of Stropkov and its surroundings from a height. In 2018, the municipality opened a lookout tower on the site of "Ščerbovka". It is part of the marked cycle route "In the footsteps of Austria-Hungary". You will also find a place to relax on it. The observation tower is over 15 meters high, there are two observation terraces.

The Slanské vrchy mountains offer several possibilities to enjoy the view of nature from higher positions. You will find two of them on the route of the Zámutov rail educational trail. From the lower one, in case of good weather conditions, you will be able to see the Mošník hill, the Menší vrch hill, Medvedia, and other hills. From the higher lookout tower, you can enjoy Šimonka and the Dubník transmitter.

Another educational trail, on the route of which you will find an observatory with the same name, is Herlica. There you can enjoy the wide surroundings of the Slanské vrchy mountains.

The lookout tower is also located in the cadastre of the village of Zlatník in the Vranov district. It offers the possibility of nice views. The steel structure is almost 22 meters high and has two viewing platforms at a height of 11 and 18.7 meters. It is freely available without restriction.
