Long the Snina's narrow-gauge railway
Cycle route "Along the Snina narrow-gauge railway" no. 5884 (green mark) reveals the history of transporting wood from forests in the past when the narrow-gauge forest railway Snina - Vihorlat ran under the Sninský kameň hill. It was built between 1913 and 1928 and had a total length of more than 26 kilometers.
The original section of the route from Snina to the Barnová branch below the Zemplínske Hámre quarry (7 km) is marked with a green cycle mark. The cycle route starts near the tourist information center in the village of Zemplínske Hámre - "Biele kamene" locality - and leads along a paved stony path, from there leads an asphalt road through the village of Zemplínske Hámre. The cycle route ends in the Snina town.
In the past, the branch of the former Snina narrow-gauge railway to Konské led from the crossroads of Lúky nad Zemplínskymi Hámrami. Today, this section is marked from Lúky to the "U umarteho" crossroads by a yellow mark (8904), from there to Konské by the red Carpathian cycle path. You can also get to Konské by a yellow link (8903) from the Biele kamene crossroads through Čierťaže to the "U umarteho" crossroads.
The last section of the former narrow-gauge railway from Konské to Zvorík, which is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved, is located in the military district of Valaškovce. There is no cycle route in this last section. By bike, you can continue from Konské following the red cycle sign, along a stony path to the road of the former Stakčín's narrow-gauge railway, or you can return to the Sninské rybníky recreation area, or take a circuit through Zemplínske Hámre to Snina.
